Fits: 88-91 Prelude (With factory installed AC system)
Additional: Right-hand drive intermediate and advanced kits require extending 1 wire.
The purpose of this kit is to bypass the original 3G Prelude compressor control unit (CCU). There are 2 reasons you would want to do this:
- Due to high fault rates you want to eliminate the CCU and have a simpler compressor control system.
- You have an H, K, or B series engine swap and want to have working AC.
These kits require no cutting/splicing of the factory wiring. The intermediate and advanced kits require depinning 1 factory wire.
Versions: This wiring kit comes in 3 versions: Basic, intermediate, and advanced. Which version to get depends on your specific setup and desired AC operation:
- Basic: You are running a B20a/B21a using any stock 3rd gen Prelude ECU, you must use the basic kit. The basic kit will not work with engine swaps/aftermarket engine harnesses.
- Intermediate: You have an engine swap but don't want the new ECU to control the AC compressor (The AC button is the sole control).
- Advanced: You have an engine swap and you do want the ECU to control the AC compressor (This is how later OBD1/OBD2 Hondas come from the factory).
For engine swaps most people will want to use the advanced kit.
Compressor Adapters: If you are keeping a stock 3G compressor with the 4-wire plug you don't need a compressor adapter. Any other compressor you will need one. H and K swap compressors should have "Type A" and B swaps "Type B":
Your compressor connector looks like this (H-series,K-series)? Order "Type A":
Your compressor connector looks like this (B-series)? Order "Type B":
NOTE: These kits do not bypass the AC pressure switch or AC thermostat so you still have the safety of those items.
